What HTS Bill collects when you look up an HTS line, estimate duty, sign in, or subscribe

Overview
This policy describes information HTS Bill (htsbill.com) handles when you search the U.S. tariff schedule, estimate duty, create a share link, sign in, subscribe, or send a message.
It is not a customs filing and not legal advice.
Information we collect
Depending on what you do, we may collect:
- Account: Google sign-in email, name, and profile image if you sign in.
- Lookup and estimate: the goods text you type, country of origin, goods value, the HTS line you select, and whether the result is watermarked.
- Saved results: a read-only snapshot at
/r/…. Anyone with that link can open the snapshot. - Quota: a hashed IP address, or a device cookie (
hts_qid) when we cannot see an IP, so the free daily estimate can be limited. - Payments: Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, amount, and status. We do not store full card numbers.
- Messages: what you send on the contact form, and the email you give there.
- Technical: browser language, pages viewed, and basic error logs.
In production we use Plausible for aggregate page views. It does not set an advertising cookie and does not identify you as an individual for ads.
We may send the operator a short notice when a payment succeeds or a contact form arrives.
How we use it
We use this information to run the lookup and estimate, enforce the free daily limit and paid quota, keep share links, process Stripe subscriptions, reply to support, prevent abuse, and keep the site working.
We do not sell your lookup history. We do not use goods names or values for advertising.
Service providers
We use other companies to operate the site, including:
- Google, for sign-in
- Stripe, for checkout and subscriptions
- Resend, for email such as sign-in verification
- The host that runs the application and database
- Plausible, for cookieless traffic counts
We give them only what that feature needs.
Share links
A result link is a snapshot of an unofficial estimate. It does not update if the tariff schedule changes. Treat the URL as visible to anyone you send it to.
Cookies and similar storage
See the Cookie Policy. We use cookies or similar storage for sign-in, language, the free-estimate device id, and Stripe checkout. We may also use a device signal to limit free-estimate abuse.
Retention
- Account data: until you ask us to delete the account, unless we must keep payment or security records.
- Saved result snapshots: until you ask us to remove that link, or we retire unused records.
- Daily quota rows: tied to a calendar day.
- Payment and audit records: as long as tax, accounting, or fraud rules require.
Your choices
You can request access, correction, or deletion where the law gives you that right. Deleting a lookup does not always delete a payment record we must keep.
